What is Arepa Lovers?

Arepa Lovers is fundamentally a story of hard work and great food — a combination we find genuinely inspiring. Founders Servando and Diana have put everything into this project to get it where it is today:

"Arepa Lovers was born just before the pandemic in 2020, and despite the enormous difficulties we all know too well, my wife Diana and I built a family business from almost nothing. At first she cooked and I delivered. There was something exciting about delivering your own product and getting thanks and encouragement from people stuck at home in lockdown. Once restrictions eased, we had to hire someone for the kitchen, and very slowly we grew and learned from our rookie mistakes. In 2022 we moved to a new, more central and larger location. We now have 5 employees, and while getting here hasn't been easy, we've kept our drive and enthusiasm fully intact."

Last.app & Arepa Lovers

Last.app and Arepa Lovers joined forces over a year ago when the team set out to improve their delivery operations. Servando, co-owner of Arepa Lovers, tells us more.

What challenges were you facing at Arepa Lovers?

We had devices and cables everywhere as the lesser evil, plus high costs from having to contract different integrators just to avoid the usual human errors. That also meant the chaos of having different phone numbers to call depending on where the issue originated.

What led you to work with Last.app?

At the time, our own Delivery & Take Away ran through Gloria Food. It caught our attention that Last.app included the integration with that platform — finally someone did it! That, combined with coming off a run of different POS systems with limited and expensive integrations, gave us the push we needed to try Last.app.

Did it solve the problems you had in the restaurant?

Yes, absolutely. We could finally have everything we need for day-to-day operations on a single device. Having handheld order terminals included in the price also helped us close the loop on front-of-house management. We gained a lot of speed by sending orders directly to the kitchen, saving time and cutting out a lot of errors.

What would you highlight about Last.app?

It's a flexible, living product — not just because new integrations keep getting added almost every week, but also because customer needs are actually taken into account. We're heard, and real solutions are found. In short, Last.app is the essential tool for any restaurant business that combines traditional hospitality with the new trends that are here to stay.

We genuinely love Arepa Lovers. Why? Because their project is full of passion and love for food and for every person who walks through their door. Bringing the flavors of Colombia and Venezuela straight to the streets of León, they put arepas — the iconic dish of those countries — front and center. But they haven't stopped there: over time they've added other staples of Latin American cuisine like empanadas, patacones, and more.

Why does their restaurant inspire us? Because at its core it's about a love of home cooking — made with fresh, quality ingredients, with a focused menu built to get the most out of every product. And if that weren't enough, they're strong believers in making great food accessible to everyone (yes, the content person occasionally gets carried away) and have made their entire menu 100% gluten-free so anyone can enjoy their dishes.

Still not seeing the passion? We see it in every word Servando says: "For us, it's very important that every customer who walks through the door or orders from home — wherever they're from — enjoys eating a quality product." And passion always comes hand in hand with care, because if Servando and Diana had to describe their team in one sentence it would be: "A team of people with great human qualities, fully committed to quality and customer service."
