Until now, your restaurant's bookings followed one set of rules for the whole week. The same notice period, the same maximum party size and the same conditions on a Tuesday lunchtime as on a Saturday night, even though the dining room, the team and the demand look nothing alike.
That's why we've added multiple booking policies to The Book. You can now create different policies, each with its own rules, and apply them to shifts, days of the week or specific dates in the calendar. If you want to be stricter at the weekend or handle bookings differently on one particular day, you no longer have to change the settings for the whole restaurant to do it.
In Reservations > Policies you'll always find your default policy, which applies to any booking that hasn't been given another one. From there you can duplicate it or start a new one from scratch, then adjust its rules. They're the same booking rules you already know, such as notice period or party size. That way, your Saturday-night policy can ask for more notice and limit large groups without touching the one that works well during the week.

Go to Reservations > Shifts / Schedules, create the shift, give it a name and choose which policy applies to it. If you don't choose one, the shift uses the default policy. With several shifts in your weekly schedule, a single week can mix different policies depending on the day or the time of service, and whoever's taking bookings doesn't have to remember which rule applies when.

In Reservations > Special days you can create exceptions for specific dates without touching your usual schedule. On that date you can close bookings completely, or change its shifts and the policy that applies, and the rest of the calendar stays as it is. Whether it's New Year's Eve, a private event or a day you're closed, nobody has to remember to block it out by hand any more.

Multiple policies don't change your current setup. If you already manage your bookings with Last.app, everything stays exactly as you set it up, and new policies only come into play when you decide to create them.
Multiple booking policies are included from The Book's Core plan upwards, which means the Core and Premium plans. They aren't available on the Basic plan.
Because a Tuesday lunchtime and a Saturday night shouldn't run on the same rules.
